鋼絲螺套是一種新型的螺紋緊固件，裝入產(chǎn)品后能符合國(guó)際標(biāo)準(zhǔn)高精度內(nèi)螺紋，其性能優(yōu)于直接攻絲形成的螺紋。

螺紋護(hù)套按尺寸分類為：公制和美制。

螺紋護(hù)套按鍍層分類為：無鍍層，干性潤(rùn)滑劑涂層（二硫化鉬），鍍鎘，Primer FreeTM，鍍銀。另外有染色，鍍彩鋅等鋼絲螺套。

鍍鎘（Cd）螺套的表示方法是在鋼絲螺套的標(biāo)記后加上后綴鎘的化學(xué)元素符號(hào)“-Cd” 如，“8×1.25×8-Cd”：公稱直徑為8mm、螺距為1.25mm、自由狀態(tài)下圈數(shù)為8圈的鍍鎘鋼絲螺套。

鍍銀（Ag）鋼絲螺套主要在于表面的鍍銀層，鍍銀層的主要作用是即可以防腐蝕，又可以作為緊固件的固體潤(rùn)滑劑。銀在空氣中會(huì)失去光澤，但可以在華氏1600度下工作。所以，利用其耐高溫和潤(rùn)滑的特性，用于在高溫下工作的緊固件，以防止螺栓、螺母的氧化咬死。由于成本原因，螺母使用鍍銀，螺栓可以不用，有時(shí)小螺栓也可以鍍銀。
